My partner and I had the most incredible stay at this hidden gem. the stunning views surrounding the property took our breath away, and our room was clean, cosy, and had a lovely ensuite bathroom. the hosts were exceptional, ensuring that we felt comfortable and well taken care of. the breakfast each morning was absolutely delicious, with fresh and plentiful options. We also loved exploring the castle's rich history and admiring the beautiful paintings and artifacts displayed throughout. We can't wait to stay here again!
That there was no on-site restaurant or bar, but we found some great options nearby.

Beautiful Setting, Perfect for a Romantic Getaway
We stumbled upon Bickleigh Castle during our 2-day hike in the Exe Valley. After a long day of hiking, we were grateful for the chance to relax in the lush green outdoors of this stunning castle. The castle itself is absolutely breathtaking and we couldn't help but imagine how magical it would be to have a wedding here. We explored the grounds and took a moment to rest on one of the benches. Although we didn't have a proper tour, we left with the desire to come back someday to fully experience the property. I highly recommend this castle for a relaxing getaway or a romantic break.

Bickleigh Castle was an absolute gem of a find! The value for money was incredible, with a warm and comfy room, and a delicious breakfast to start the day. The location, nestled on the banks of the River Exe, was truly breathtaking. The staff, especially John, were friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home.

The room was clean and comfortable, with two double beds which was great for myself and my friend. The owner was very hospitable and made us feel welcome. He even gave us a guided tour of the property and his enthusiasm for the history was evident. The location of the hotel was also convenient, as we were able to go on a nice walk in the surrounding area.
It rained for our entire stay, so we weren't able to enjoy the beautiful gardens that the hotel had to offer. there wasn't much to do in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, so we found ourselves a bit bored at times.

The food during my Christmas stay was outstanding. It was delicious and well-prepared, definitely one of the highlights of my stay. The location of the hotel was perfect. It was situated in a beautiful countryside setting, allowing for some scenic walks and a peaceful atmosphere.- One of the best aspects was the attentive service. The staff was friendly and helpful, making sure that all my needs were met throughout my stay.
The room I stayed in was in need of some maintenance. There were noticeable signs of wear and tear, such as peeling paint and worn-out furniture.

We had a fantastic experience at Bickleigh Castle! The value for money was excellent, with beautiful and peaceful accommodation in the charming cottages next to the castle. The location was like stepping back in time, surrounded by changing autumn leaves. The friendly staff went above and beyond to help us celebrate our daughter's birthday and made us feel at home. Special shout-out to the lovely lady at breakfast who accommodated my severe food intolerances with care and understanding.

We stayed at Bickleigh Castle for our older daughter’s birthday on the way to our younger daughter’s graduation. John was incredibly helpful with our cake logistics. The owners were friendly, the bed comfortable, and the shower nice and hot. Breakfast was fantastic and we felt safe parking our car with all our equipment on the grounds. The location by the River Exe was beautiful, and the historical atmosphere added to the charm. The Trout Inn and Fisherman's Cot pubs nearby were cozy and served delicious food. a great stay in a stunning and peaceful setting.
Would definitely recommend this hotel.
